The Yukon and Northwest Territories are in Canada’s north and border above British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Indigenous peoples in the Yukon and Northwest Territory are the Dene, Southern and Northern Tutchone, Tlingit, Tagish, Kaska, Tanana, Han, Gwich’in(1), Inuit and Metis.
Tlingit filmmaker, performer and two-spirited activist from NWT, Duane Gastant’ Aucoin recently received the audience favourite award a the Out On Screen Queer Film & Video Festival in Vancouver for his live and digital video piece Kichx Anagaat Yatx’i: Children of the Rainbow. His previous short films Chez D’s and The End were at imagineNATIVE in 2005 and 2006(4).
