Media and Communication : British Columbia

One of the last provinces in Canada to be settled by European explorers, British Columbia is home to total of twenty-seven distinct First Nations with more than two-hundred communities with eight different language groups throughout British Columbia and Vancouver Island(1).

Canada’s First Nation Radio-CFNR 92.1 FM is the First Nations voice from and for Central and Northern BC and broadcasts from Terrace to provide news and issues affecting both native and non-native population. A notable popular broadcast of the “Voice of the All Native Basketball Tournament” has a growing reach with a radio market population base of 150,000+ in 55 BC communities with additional online coverage with CFNR NET RADIO feed available globally(8).
